The majority contributors to the constitution and the more prominent colonies were founded by Christians or at least those that believed in a higher power. But, as we grew self sufficient some drifted and thought themselves above such "quaint" notions.
Many ignorant people equate American with Christian. The same way one would associate Southern states as backwater so to speak or Northern states with uppity people.
Some Christians also believe they already know enough scripture and do not need more than the occasional reading at Church or Bible study. Also many people are lazy and do not read anything and have in general lost all study habits or the notion to keep them.

It's crazy, many people claim to be Christian, and who am I to say different concerning them. It is hard to recognize people as being Christian when so many are not acting very Christian. I don't know anyone who is able to be perfect in their actions at all times. If we had that ability we would not need Christ or His forgiveness.
I cannot answer every question asked about the Bible. I do read my Bible, I study God's word. By not having the ability to answer every question that does not make me less Christian.
As for Christian America, look beyond liberal media and you will find many Christian people in the same struggle as you with sin and the world. You cannot trust liberal propaganda and Hollywood for a true account of Christian America.

It was founded on Christian values but has since come closer to a neo-pagan society. In reading the bible it must be read with the invocation of the Holy Spirit since it was written that way along with the understanding of the form of text used for the times. Also an authentic and authoritative interpretor is needed which can only be found from the magistarium of the church ( the teaching office) which comes from Christ Himself
St. Peter said, " there is no personal interpretation of sacred scripture"

America was founded on Christianity. It all began with the Pilgrims seeking religious freedom.
Prayer was always a big part of the forming of our nation. In fact, our founding fathers always began and ended their meetings with prayer. It is in their speeches and writings...only until recently it has been removed...why?
When people say that the US wasn't founded on Christianity, they are in denial......just the same as some people now say there was never a Holocost in WW2.
I read my Bible every day. I begin my morning with reading and end my day with reading. It is necessary, because His Word is the open window to knowing who He is.
It's necessary to dig into the Word. The Word is God's sword, to fight temptation and influence that is not good for you.
I cannot answer every question that comes my way, and if I can't, it makes me want to find the answer.
I'm not a Bible scholar, but I sure love God. He doesn't want us to be scholars, but to reflect His love.

You can be a Christian and not read your bible everyday. The only thing it takes to be a Christian is Believing in Jesus and turning your life over to Him. You don't have to go to church or read the bible everyday or even answer questions. Just believe and follow Him.

The founding fathers of the USA were Christians. The people who crossed the Atlantic to live here were mostly Christian. Many arrived in order to worship freely.
We follow the Christian calendar. We close major businesses for Easter and Christmas ... not for Yom Kippur or Ramadan.
The majority of the citizens are Christian.

America today has become secularized because of a continuous attack by secular humanists which has lasted for over 60 years now. Sadly, most American Christians are christian in name only, and have no real knowledge of Scripture.

America was founded by christian Europeans. However, not many people come up to me and tell me that America is a "christian country". America is extremely diverse when it comes to religion. Personally, i don't follow a specific religion but my whole family is catholic. the people down the street from me a Islam and my math teacher is Jewish. No one claims America to be entirely christian.

I do not believe that you know 'most christians'. Your question is based upon unfounded suppositions.
I would have to say that there is a vocal minority of 'empty vessels making the most noise' who are ruining christianity's image for the rest of you. Loud and uninformed.
We find this type of person in all walks of life - not just christianity.
