I'm afriad they probably won't do anything..they should be though. You can call the station and ask if they are/would.

They would try to locate the car and investigate the complaint. In most cases it would be hard to pursue any type of charges in a he said she said scenario like you describe. If they had actually caused damage to your car the physical evidence might help your complaint.

In a "road rage" case both parties involved usually have a completely different version of events. Not to say that either person will necessarily lie to the Police (although that happens often enough). Both people honestly feel they are right and were wronged by the other person, both feel the other person's behavior was repulsive and theirs was one of a victim. How do you decide who the offender really was?

The best advice I can give you on road rage is let it go. Don't let it get to the point of road rage. Even if you are in the right and the other driver totally cut you off, or whatever they did. You are driving several thousand pounds down the road, it's not worth getting into a contest over pride. If you have to slow down or do something to get out of their way, do it. Know that you were the bigger person and let them go off and vent their rage to someone else, instead of ruining your day.

You could file a report and give the plate number. Then later go get the report and take it and file an affidavit for a warrant of arrest with the prosecuting attorney in the jurisdiction where the offense took place. The police can assist you in determining identity, but since it is a misdemeanor that did not occur in the presence of an officer the violator cannot be ticketed. Something can be done and the police can help, but they can't do it all for you.
