My husband and I will be going to a concert in Carnagie Hall tomorrow (St. Patty's day)) and I was wondering if any one knew any good bars we could check out near by - not to far walking distance since it's cold out. We're not into a cluby - hip-hop scene nor are we old (we're 26). Any suggestions?
Live celtic music would be fun, but I'd like to hear all suggestions. Also, is that part of NYC considered Manahttan?

Here's two on 54th you might enjoy. The Oldcastle will be packed for St Paddy's so may want to go across the street to Faces & Names..
PJ Carney's is another great NYC bar, but you will be either be standin' on the sidewalk or unable to get out of the place tomorrow... It's by 57th and Seventh Ave.
Have a great time!
And yes Carnegie Hall is in Manhattan...

Carnegie Hall is indeed in Manhattan, on Seventh Avenue. I'm not sure how you planned on getting there without knowing that. Anyway, the area around Carnegie Hall is full of bars and eateries.

The Red Eye Grill has great food and cool drinks. Bit on the pricey side though.

Connelly's (there are a few in the city around midtown/grand central) are great pubs. Black 47, a local Irish band plays there a lot.- but i think they are playing at BBkings on March 17th.

You could try Le Bar Bat on 57th St. btw 7th and 8th. It's not celtic music, but it's quite nice.
I don't think you are going to find any celtic bars in that neighborhood. Every place is going to be crazy that night, it is not the best night to be out looking for a place to sit and enjoy anything but noise. the city is totally crazy, everyone is in to get drunk and not really listen to music. I find it the worst night to be in the city.
Unfortunately, if you really want good celtic music you have to head down to 14th street, that's where the good bars are, but, as you say, it's going to be cold and who wants to travel.
