The asian deaf mute girl in the movie was signing to her friends. Do you think that in China they use ASL (American Sign Language) or do you think that every country has their own sign language?

I will not revise my question but add an apology. Apparently the person who first answered my question felt the need to start drama over a mistake. I am sorry, the girl was located in Japan, not China, but that has nothing to do with my non racial question.

Every country has its own form of a signed language. ASL derives from LSF (French Sign Language). Even though we got the basics of ASL from France it has developed over the years and become a unique and separate language. Many people think our sign is like that of England, but is it very different. BSL (Britain Sign Language) is a two handed sign language much different than ASL.

Japan does have its own unique signed language, and so does china. Some of the other oriental countries do not though because within their countries deaf children are less than adequate and are shunned from the culture. But, the children will sometime develop "home signs" to help communicate.

Every country has their own sign language. I found this out by watching signers here in Germany. Since I speak some ASL I was surprised to find out that here it was different. But it makes sense because each language has letters that other don´t and words or expressions that others don´t.
Also, if every country used ASL, it wouldn´t be called American Sign Language, but probably more like plain old Sign Language or World Sign Language.

I'm not sure about China, but just about every country uses a different sign language. In the U.S. we have two, ASL (which is actually a dialect of French Sign Language) & Signed English. In Great Britan they use British Sign Language. In New Zealand they have their own sign language, so even in countries where we all Speak English, there are multiple sign languages for the deaf.

Edit: Actually there is a Chinese Sign Language. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Sign_Language

I think they have their own sign language and I also think that its probably universal. Only in america could they come up with something that no one else outside america wouldunderstand.
