You're going to have to lose about 41 pounds. The safest way is to cut down your caloric intake and eat low fat foods and eat a lot of fruits. I'm looking to cut another seven pounds myself my goal is 190. I started about seven weeks ago at a weight of 215. You can't starve yourself. If you're looking to box you need to keep your body properly fueled. No fatty foods, junk foods, or dessert type food, processed food. use your common sense most of us know which foods are good for our bodies. Drink A LOT of water. Naturally get in the gym do your floor work and gym work and believe me the pounds will come off without having to starve yourself. Good luck.

By the way that's a hell of a lot of weight to lose? Do you want to go all the way down to bantam?

That really depends on your age. If you're young and relatively fit, cutting back on calories should give you the result you want - not a gimmicky diet like Atkins or something, just pay attention to your portions and do anything like drinking alcohol or eating dessert in serious moderation. Keep do aerobic exercise (running, etc.) and you should be fine. Don't lift weights too much or you end up putting on muscle weight.
If you're older, try Weight Watchers, they have a great program thats relatively easy to keep up with and can give you extra help in the diet area. You might have to exercise a little more the older you are but consistancy is key, try to go for a run everyday.
Good luck!

Victor ~
That's a lot of weight to lose bro. You're going from almost 160 pounds (a middleweight) down to 118 pounds maximum (bantamweight) It's not impossible but in my opinion it can't be healthy for you to try cutting that much weight without a Doctors supervision. If you had a few pounds to lose even 15 or 20 I could recommend a few things that the pros do but given the amount of weight we're writing about here my advice to you is, think of another weight class.

Thanks for the question and good luck Victor.

Well, dont forget that muscle does weigh in. So after you think you have lost your main number of pounds. Limit your exercising. Because after you burn your fat off, you gain muscle which a lot of times weighs more than fat.

no. you are overweight. you have to know that bantamweight and not bantan has a weight limit of 118 pounds so i think you have to lose weight and you are more like a middlweight to me because there weight limit is 160 and that is far from bantasmweight. you should know the weight limits first. and you cal yourself a boxer. here. this will help.
