The fact that there is no God. And no, it does not take as much faith to believe that there is no god than there is a god. There is zero evidence for the existence of any god.

Your jumbling ideas to get a unsatisfying conclusion. Faith is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen". Faith requires denying what you actually experience, sensory and otherwise, and believe a full set of relgious beliefs, stories, parables, etc without question. An Atheist does not make the leap of faith to belief without rationality. So an atheist would demand scientific proof that the bible was indeed correct, etc. Essentially, though, an atheist has to devote no energy, no faith, they are not actively denying God anymore then a normal person denies purple unicorns. We can all agree that purple unicrons don't exist and I'm sure few people spend considerable amounts of time reflecting oin this denial. Similarly, and atheist isn't necessarily one whos obssessed with disproving God- in fact that can't really happen since the burden is on theists to prove Gods existence first- an atheist denying the evidence so far and walks away not believing in god and more then likely not really thinking too much about it.

One last demonstration: Imagine you are in an art gallery with a friend. While in one of the rooms a man who appears to be a curator points to a blank wall and whispers that on it is the most valuable and beautiful work in the whole museum. The public, he explains, is not yet ready for the work, so they've gone to great lengths to hang in such a way that it cannot be detected, that it cannot be seen. The curator disappears and your friend notices you staring with awe at the blank wall and inquires. You tell him the entire story and he's very impressed, but suspicious. He asked two questions: how do you know? And Why do you believe him? The answer is faith, nothing else. While you stay there to try to devise more ways of convincing your friend; he walks off to see the museum.

What you have really done is just made a statement in which you will not accept any other answers because you think yours is right. How can fossil records be lies do think someone intentionally put them there, no of course they didn't they are the remains of organisms from millions of years ago. Also if you say carbon dating doesn't work you then you clearly don't understand the technique behind it

Before we begin discussing your question, let me acquaint you with the etymology of the word "atheist." (Note the spelling.)

The word is composed of a Greek particle "a" which means "without," and a Greek noun "theos" which means "god or gods." Adding the suffix "ist" denotes "an adherent."

So, an atheist is an adherent of the belief that there is no god.

I hope that helps you the next time you want to spell the word.

I do concur that atheism requires faith, but the faith seems more reposed in observable and verifiable data in the case of atheism than it does in theism. The assumption of a supernatural being who created the universe is a large leap of faith indeed.

I'm an agnostic, myself, and content to live in the question.

I do believe, however, that language is important in that it is the material with which we think. We should, therefore, be careful with it.

There's no evidence that one exists. And it absolutely does not take as much faith to believe that there is no god as to believe that there is one.

I can't prove to you that 'a god' doesn't exist. I can, however, demonstrate that your religion is bullshit. Starting at the top, the bible claims that everything was created in more or less its current form about six thousand years ago. There is extremely good scientific evidence that the universe is much older than that, that Earth is much older than that, that life is much older than that, and that none of them were created in their current forms.

Carbon dating is very accurate up to 60 000 years. That isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things, but it's ten times longer than your religion claims the universe has existed for.
And even if you completely disregard fossils, the fact that there are rocks more than 6000 years old disproves your religion.

Because free will is an impossibility under the Church-Turing Thesis.

Since free will is a necessary consequence of a deity, and this necessary consequence is missing, the predicate is necessarily missing under modus tollens.

It takes no faith to know that there is no deity.

-----------------

You cannot radiocarbon date fossils. Radiocarbon dating only works from about 10,000 years ago to about 50,000 years ago. Any earlier or later and the error margins become too large for reliability.

Fossils are dated by geological column placement and by other radiometric forms of testing (I believe radiopotassium dating is often used).

Learn how to spell ATHEIST first, then repost your question.

It takes no faith to not beleive in God. That is utterly ridiculous. How much faith do you have that Santa doesnt exist? the tooth fairy? Baal? Thor? Ra? FSM?

I rest my case. Im so friggin sick and tired of hearing you Christians claim that Christianity isnt a religion, its a relationship with Christ, yet you try to say that Atheism is a religion and requires faith. You are lying to yourselves in order to continue living your deluded lives. You dont fool me. Atheism isnt a religion - if it was, the Govt would allow us tax exempt status - but they refuse, based upon the simple fact that we ARENT a religion. GOT IT?

I am not required to prove that something doesnt exist. You are making the claim he does - it is your responsibility to prove he exists then. A negative cannot be proven. If that were the case, Id ask you to prove Santa isnt real.

Okay Jesus, let's start right at the top. I believe there is no God for the same reason that I believe there is no tooth fairy. To me, all supernatural is just superstition. If it's not of the natural world, it just isn't.
So far as proving that there is no God, you are absolutely correct. Non-existance can't be proven. For instance, you can't prove that there is no Santa Claus. Saying that you were the one who put the toys under the tree, only shows that he was not at your house. It doesn't prove he doesn't exist.
The same thing can be said for any supernatural. Non-believers can't prove these things aren't real because non-existance can't be proven. And believers can't prove they're real because they're not.

1 - The word is spelt atheist. However I now concede the word "athiest" exists. It is a pejorative term used by Christians to describe atheists.
2 - I takes less faith to not believe. Do you find it takes great faith not to believe in Santa?

Here we go again. Disbelief is the default given the lack of evidence for God. I believe in a celestial teapot revolving around a distant planet- it takes faith for you not to believe in it. PROVE TO ME THERE IS NO TEAPOT!!
