Just get on the train to Boston at 30th Street, at Boston you will change trains to the Maine Downeaster which will take you to Portland.

Frankly I am wondering why you did not just refer to the Amtrak timetable.

Three caveats:

(1) The Acela from Philly to Boston is far more expensive but only takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours less than the regular train.

(2) The train from Philly arrives at Back Bay and South Stations in Boston but the Downeaster leaves from North Station. To get to North Station you get off at Back Bay (NOT South) where you switch to the Orange Line subway which goes directly to North (only 6 stops).

(3) The station at Portland is actually located (unfortunately) on the southern outskirts of the city.

Make sure when in Portland you try all the wonderful micro-brewed Maine beers you can!
