I have tried opening the sims 2 files that have already been downloaded simply by right clicking on the file, and choosing open file. But when I try to install them, I get a message that says "Windows cannot open this file." If you the answer please let me know.

This is simple enough. You got a bad torrent file. Just because it downloaded into a folder doesn't mean it's a valid .exe file. It's very possible that it's incomplete or just a bad file all together.

Sounds defective. You should take it back for a refund.
