maybe i should restate that question? Did Jesus knowingly try to evade people that he accused of trying to murder him. Did he try to escape their plots and conspiracy to kill him before they could do it, before he was caught by roman soilders?
when is saving your life justifiable? and when do you give it up for the sake of the gospel?

Great question, Anyone that trys to save his life will lose it, and anyone who lose his life, for my sake, shall save it.
When Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, the people had to look upon it to be saved, but Jesus preached just the opposite.
Jesus lost his life and because he was willing to do the will of the Father, who is in heaven, he was not only saved, he was given Power and Glory, he was the First, to become ALIVE.

He did walk out from the midst of the crowds that were trying to kill him, because the timing was not right....nor their methods.
Proper timing is very important to God,Habakkuk 2:3
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
John 7:6
Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
With God, there is a set time for everything
Exodus 9:5
And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land
And today, says the Lord....is the Day of Salvation !

He freely gave His life. He could have escaped the Romans and even death at any time. This was demonstrated when a crowd wanted to stone him and he disappeared from them. He also had the power to control life which was demonstrated when he raised people from the dead (Lazarus was one of I think three examples noted in the Bible). He gave His life at the right time, up until he was crucified he had more to to accomplish.
Saving your life is always justifiable unless God has a purpose for you to die. In fact, giving up your life for the sake of the gospel doesn't mean you have to die, it actually should determine the way you live.

Jesus knew that there was a specific time and manner in which he was to die. He did not want to be rushed by a mob and done in before that, because it would have been out of harmony with God's purpose. What he was saying there was that people should be willing to sacrifice their lives in God's service, which will be rewarded with everlasting life. Those who selfishly decide to live strictly for themselves would not benefit from this...

When you think about it He still went through more pain than anybody would ever go through and He gave His life up, so that we would be saved and be able to be in Heaven with Him. He evaded there plots cause it wasn't His time to die yet.
