I do what rop does.

I destroy my personal info, and mail back their junk mail in someone else's prepaid envelope.

You can also call your bank, credit card companies and credit reporting agencies to opt out.

Option #1 is more fun, though.

This is what I do. Take out all of my personal information and shred it. Then I take all the fliers, disclosures, and everything else and stuff it in the prepaid return envelope to mail it back. It is my hobby. I probably send back 30-40 envelopes a week.

Or, you can contact the companies and tell them to take you off their mailing list. I think my way is more fun though.

Go to https://www.dmaconsumers.org and follow the prompts. This will take you off of the credit list that the three credit bureaus sell. Might take a couple of weeks but it will work.
