I don't know what a parallel robot is, but since it is a robot it must consist of a moving arm. In order for arm to move there must be a motor. All robotic arm has a stepper motor, it is somewhat similar to dynamo, have you seen one? You will see a dynamo in your toy cars just like TAMIYA. Or just think of an electric fan that rotates, but in contrast to stepper motor it moves by count. Once you appled a voltage to a stepper motor it will rotate (clockwise or counterclockwise) in certain degrees, unlike fans which rotates continuously. A stepper is used in order to control the arm of the robot and in turn control the activity.
