I am very sorry to hear you have cancer. this has happened to my friend before. try going to your radiologist and asking him/her. Write down a bunch of questions, take the paper with you, and ask them why you keep losing your memory. if you have small cell cancer, you are more likely to lose your memory. i hope you fell better, and fight the cancer.

There IS a cancer fighting center, go to cancersucks.com and you will find items there, and half of there sales, goes to cancer centers. there are hats, stickers, bracelets, etc!

Well it's no wonder with all that you have been through. I agree, buy a timer and set it each and every time too. Make it a habit to always unplug anything, hairdryer, irons etc. any time you need to step away for any reason.

Let the damn phone ring when you are doing something!

You know I am as forgetful as you and I'm in my 40s and in good health so dont feel you are alone. I get stressed at times and my mind just isn't as sharp or focused as it used to be so just make things routine and check and double check.

Never leave burners on if you don't have a timer going, best you shut it off then turn it back on. Buy appliances with timers on them, programmable settings and auto shut offs too if you can afford to.

Best of luck, I hope you feel a lot better when all this is over. Don't forget it takes your body a good 6 months to recover and build up your immune system too, so you should start feeling better mentally when you feel better physically.

You have what is commonly called "chemo brain", very common after chemo treatments. I had chemo treatments twice-16 years ago for breast cancer and 2 years ago for ovarian cancer but have not had any memory problems although several of my fellow survivors have had. I wouldn't worry about it and just keep compensating for it by making notes etc. as you are doing. Do crossword puzzles, read, write-anything to get those brain cells working.

Do a Google search on chemo brain [one word or two words].
It is a real phenomenon, it is not your imagination. It may be this way for a long while. Do your best to keep lists, schedules, set alarms, etc. It will get better.
Best wishes

chemo brain (CB) is really common - try to keep up on your sleep

(tired and CB are bad combo)

little memory joggers help - little pad of paper or the electronic memory work (recording device that saves what you say in 60 sec clips and lets you play them back.

i sometimes actually call my house and leave me messages for when I get home.

sorry, but don't have a magic bullet to cure that one,

>>Set a timer EVERY time you put something on or in the stove.
>>Buy a bunch of yellow stickies and fridge magnets (to hold reminders. Check notes after each mealtime and when you get up.
>>Put up a couple of white boards with erasable pens tied on.
>> Use the Marquee screensaver on your computer.

As I get older all my friends are getting forgetful, we are just a bit ahead of the crowd! : - )
