If everyone would follow the Golden Rule and treat everyone the way they want to be treated there would be unity. Good luck, I'll be praying for you.

Well one way would be to remove the disunifying factors - and yeah, religion is one of the biggest.
YA is a good way to promote tolerance. It's not the same thing but at least tolerance is not disunity.
I'm not so sure that unity can exist, since people naturally get drawn to people similar to themselves and away from people that are different. Perhaps the best we can hope for is a lack of deliberate disunity.

Instead of focusing on differences, find things that are the same. For example, weather affects us all. Talk about sports that people like. Music also. Once we have a foundation where we see people as people just like us...then we can learn about differences. But do so in an informative way and not a judgemental way.

Unity...everyone united...We would all have to agree to whatever it was in order to be united. That would not likely happen considering all the people who do not want to unite. I do not think it can be done on earth as we know it. Promoting unity, however, ...promoting meaning encouraging unity, well that would be to encourage others to agree to unite. Unite how? And for what cause or goal? To be at peace with one another? All those who want peace, really truly want peace do not need to be convinced.

Unity - you must have it in you to show among others. Some will accept some will not.
