I would be caring for him from about 8:30 am until 5:30 pm. I would also be watching his 10 year old sister from 2:30 until 5:30 (after school) she will take the bus to the apartment complex. I was previously a kindergarten teacher and I do light educational activities with my own 4 and 2 year old. But I don't have a clue as to what to charge for both.

Call day care centers in your area and base it in that.

My son's babysitter charges us $20 a day in Cleveland, OH He is 5 months old. The babysitter is a registered nurse and previously worked in Labor & Delivery.

If she charged me $10 an hour, I'd have to quit my job and keep him myself! That would be more than half my paycheck! The daycare centers here charge about $185 a week, so I am saving a bundle with the baby sitter!

Well in my area, Northern KY, I am currently charging $125 a week, including food for a 18 month old. So from that I'm sure you can add or subtract standard of living, and age. Now for the after schooler, I would only charge like $5 an hour. That would be the normal babysitting rate. It sounds like you've got your hands full!! GOOD LUCK!

I am a Director of a preschool in California, and because you are not a center you should not charge the same rate. Call about 3 centers in your area and average their rates. Then I would cut that by about 40 %

I think you should charge $10/hour everyday considering the background you have and capacity you could have to nurture good values in their kids. You may charge $5/hr or $10 extra/perday for the other kid. Good luck!
