I have a 134 pound 11 year old sister. Any one with the same problem or a possible solution (serious answers only). I don't need any comments like for her to stop eating and stuff.

How tall is she?

The solution is that the family is supposed to exercise together, the family should eliminate junk food from the home, and the goal should be not gaining more weight, rather than losing weight.

If she wants help, then talk with her directly about steps she can take. Otherwise, don't impose your values of how she should look on her, just focus on getting the family to exercise together and eat more healthily.

There's two good answers from my history I can give you.

In 2006:

When I was 11 (turning 12 that October) I was around 130. My sister called me fat, but I never personally saw it. I would always compare myself to my friends and be like "I want that." But what I didn't realize in April I got my period. So I knew I was just changing and I would get nice curves like an hourglass when my friends didn't. And I did! Haha.

In 2007:

Well, now I'm 12 and will be 13 this October and I spend hours looking at myself in the mirror because I love my body. I'm not anorexic-looking but not obese-looking either. All my friends don't call em fat and guys actually prefer me to some other girls because of mature body. But also, I thinned out because my parents are tall (dad is 6'6" and mom is 5'11") so I was bound to be tall.

She will definitely thin out and be curvy. She's probably just getting "thick" because of that damned puberty we all HATE.

I'm 5'7" and 131lbs and never looked better.

Trust me, it's just a phase.

i actually agree with cassandra on this one. your family should exercise together. everyday after dinner, all of u should go out walking together. u know how much talking u guys will do. if she feels lonely or depressed about something, this could help her. maybe walk to the park, play a little and than walk home. or ride the bikes.

sometimes being overweight isn't just about food. it could be that your sister is lonely or something else is bothering her and she is using food to cover it up.

puberty is also around the corner sometimes girls gain weight around this period.

any hoot, now is not the time to make her lose weight, now is the time to make sure she doesn't gain any. by eating healthy and exercising together as time goes on the weight will either grow into her size or she will lose it.

How tall is she?
you can go to www.blubberbuster.org and find out what her BMI is and what she needs to weigh.
try not to make her feel bad about her weight and try not to bring it up too much although Im sure she is old enough to know. Since this is your sister and not your daughter Im not sure how much control you have over the situation. but older sisters can be a wonderful influence and since you are concerned im sure you are a very good big sister! Eating healthy and watching portion sizes will help. When its time for snacking ask your mom to help out with keeping healthy snacks around. fruits, veggies and dip, etc and be the good role model and eat these things too. If everyone else has chips she will want them too. go for walks/jogs with her and encourage her to drink lots of water. You are a very good big sister to want to help. good luck

my sister is 9 and 123 pounds...but the serious answer is to stop eatting. Cut out the junk food, pizza, cookies chips...stuff like that. Get healthy foods and whole grain stuff. Dont worry she will proly just grow into her weight as she gets older...but ONLY if she stops gaining weight now.

You know that genetics plays a large part in determining a persons weight. Are either of your parents overweight? Maybe your sister takes after that parent and you take after the other one. It was like that for me & my sister.

Another thing is self-esteem. While it probably seems to the world that your sister may have issues with self-esteem BECAUSE OF her weight the opposite may in fact be true. She may have weight issues BECAUSE OF low self-esteem. You can do a lot to help that. Reassure her that you love her, you value her as a sibling & you are there for her as a friend. Then when she sees others value her she will start valuing herself more & take more pride in her appearance.

Hey man, some people are just naturally BIG. Not fat, but just BIG.
I have always been one of those tall, thin people (I weighed 86 lbs when I was 11) and it annoyed the heck out of my older, BIG sister.
But it's ok for her to be a little overweight.
Just so that she's not, like, PIGGING OUT all day or something.

I am around her age and I used to be 160(159.8) pounds. That was a total shame of me. The weird exercise things my Mom made me do never worked one bit. But now, I am down to 130 pounds in just a month for exerciseing like a normal person.

My Mom's things were just like climb up and down a ladder, or keep on diveing into the couchk, or crawl on around on your feet...She said she lost weight from doing thoose...I honestly never realy got that...

it could be genetics or it could be that now adays kids do nothing but sit on computers in front of the tv or play video games. Getting out and playout side at the part and bike riding is what kids shouold be doing for fun
