I think you must mean ruttabega. It is yummy-my favorite vegetable. It is a bit hard to prepare, as it has a hard thick waxy coat that must be peeled off. I make oven fries with it, or you can steam it and mash it up like mashed potato. It tastes like a really strong turnip. I fix them almost every day. You should try one-they are yummy!

No Idea, but this is what I found
Swede or Rudebaker - Just right for your 12th Scale Shop or Kitchen/Garden this King of root vegetables is all hand modelled in polymer clay - therefore it is not advisable to purchase these for children. Looking as though it had been pulled fresh from the garden this would equally look good in a barrow or market stall, or on the kitchen table or scullery sink being prepared for dinner. Sold individually

Rutabaga: purple and white root type veggie. usually has wax on it at the grocery store. Taste something like a potatoe. Peel the wax skin off, cut up in chunks, boil (or cook in the microwave). Add butter, salt, pepper to taste.

they're called Swedes in the uk and they taste horrid (to me). My mum peels it, boils it (like potatoes) and mashes it with potato, carrots, sweetpotatoes, celeriac, etc, a mixture, or all together - dirty vegetable. The French, apparently, think we're wierd for eating them, as they feed them to animals - best place for them in my opinion.
