Obviously you already know popcorn is a choking hazard for little ones. Some experts recommend waiting till 3 or even 4 years of age. To be honest though my kids were a bit younger than that. The important thing with any foods is that pieces are small enough to fit through their esphogus in case swallowed. Also make sure kids are always seated when eating.

Emmy had popcorn at 18 months. She ate everything her 2 1/2 year old brother did. I had her sitting at the table eating it I only gave her 2 pieces at a time. by the time she was 2 she was eating it at the table out of her own bowl.

Bay was a little over a year when she started having popcorn. Her older sister dropped a piece on the carpet and bay picked it up. she started eating it.

I have no problem giving them popcorn at that young of an age as long as the child is sitting down and someone is right there with the child. there's nothing wrong with it.

Heck I watch an almost 3year old , a 4, and a 6 year old. the 2 older kids eat sun flower seeds in the shell. They know how to crack the shell and to only eat the see itself. I even crack the shell and give the seed to the almost 3 year old.

I think that is old enough. As long as she has the teeth to chew it should be fine. My little girl is 2 1/2 and she ate popcorn for the first time when she was about 1 1/2. It's a great snack.

My daughter is two and a a million/2 and we've by no ability had popcorn in our abode, i'm very paranoid approximately choking. She has had it as quickly as, we've been at a playgroup and yet another mom asked if she might have it. She rather needed it, so I enable her have some products. She sat on the picnic table beside me and ate it and became nice, yet I nonetheless does no longer provide it to her at abode for no less than a pair of extra years. confident, i'm very paranoid approximately choking and overly careful. Wait until your toddler is in mattress in the previous getting out the popcorn.

My kids were 5 before I let them eat popcorn. That may seem overkill to some, but we've had the choking incident in which my husband had to do the heimlich manuever on a little one. I take no chances with known high risk foods.

We just give them another snack that is safe. This makes my little ones happy.

They say three, but my 21 month old eats it, but we hand him one piece at a time and make him sit with us as he eats it, no running around or even walking off a little bit, just in case. We keep a little glass of water near by also. We have done this with all three of our boys and have never had even one problem, but it is better to be safe than sorry. I think they set that age, because people would let the child just go off with a little bowl of popcorn, like I do with goldfish and such, and then if their backs were turned the child could choke and the parent wouldn't notice.

Popcorn can be a choking hazard to toddlers. Nuts, too.
In addition, there is the issue of flossing.

I'd recommend you wait until she's four and can brush and floss on her own.

My four year old granddaughter did choke on a walnut and this year had to have five cavities filled. Not all the fault of popcorn of course. Just some things to keep in mind.

She is plently old enough to eat popcorn. Just make sure she hasn't something to drink with her as well. Heck, all four of my kids ate popcorn by the time they were 12 months. It's the only snack food I buy, and I eat it EVERY DAY!

our kids at our daycare aren't allowed to have popcorn because of the corn kernel.....it's can choke a child to death.
we had kids to age 5. also, when we give the kids popcorn we buy that kerneless kind..........do you know what i mean? it's like puffed corn or something. she won't know the difference if she has a bowl of that while you are enjoying your real popcorn. hope that helps!
