I had braces maybe four years ago and i haven't worn my retainer regularly since. Actually, I wore it the way i was supposed to for a year and then i just stopped. My original problem was that i had a huge gap in my front teeth. I have just now noticed that that gap is slowly returning! so i tried to wear my retainer again. it hasn't hurt so far but tha's probably because i can't get it to go up all the way, if you know what imean. for one thing, the little gap in my bakc teeth when the hooks used to sit aren't there anymore.

so i guess what i'm asking is what should i do? i've been wearing my retainer half up all day today but i'm worried that if i keep doing that my teeth are going to fall out or something, they won't will they? anyway, is there anything i can do short of going back to the orthodontist? thanks!

Sorry, but I don't think there's any home remedies you can do. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. The only solution is to go to the ortho and either get braces again or get a new retainer that fits. However, he/she will find out that you haven't been wearing your retainer and they might lecture you.

Oh, and don't worry, I can assure you that your teeth will not fall out.

First of all, your teeth are not going to fall out. Your teeth have shifted and you might have to get braces again if you want them to be straight. Just calm down and give your orthodontist a call.

You have to go back to the orthodontist. He might have to put braces back on depending on how badly your teeth have shifted or he could fit you for new retainers.

You have to go to the orthodontist and the him/her the
problem or do u really want to lose Ur back or front teeth if
u don't go to the orthodontist u have to get new teeth and this
hurts more then a retainer.
