I think it depends on whether or not it bothered the person enough to seek an orthodontist. Some people just don't have the money to afford these services; they're really expensive.

However, people do judge you based on how you look and if someone's teeth were sticking out of their mouth, they are probably going to be ridiculed and stared at, and may have a detrimental impact on their self-esteem.

My teeth didn't stick out of my mouth, but they were severly crowded and it was not attractive. I developed a habit of covering my mouth with my hand when I smiled and when I had to laugh really hard, I purposely bent over or turned the other way. I absolutely hated to take pictures. Eventually I got braces and my teeth straightened out. It has changed my life and actually made me a happier person. I know we should love ourselves no matter what, but somethimes these types of problems can affect your self-confidence.

I think that they should! I mean, if you can't close your mouth it's clearly a problem. And doesn't that dry out your mouth...if it's constantly open? Is this your personal problem? If so, look in the mirror and think about what you COULD look like if you fixed your teeth. Just a suggestion!

It's a matter if they have the funds to fix them. Everyone doesn't have great dental insurance or the money to do extensive work on teeth.

I'd say if the condition of their teeth makes them uncomfortable and they can afford it -- I would get them corrected. Maybe a doctor can work out a payment plan if funds are an issue.

it seems it might effect chewing, speech, and kissing, depending on the degree they stick out. It might effect their self esteem if they feel they look like a beaver. So if it bothers the person concerned in any of these ways they should consider it. If it doesn't bother them, but it bothers you, you need to work on yourself.

All depends on how that person feels about it but, if it were me, then I would say yes.

If they can afford it why not. If they cant afford it, then as long as they are clean and have no poppyseeds stuck in them, then who cares.
