The US Government is not going to stop you from going to Iraq. The only caveat is that unless you are going to work on a US Government contract - you are on your own.

Dear Drivebyw: You are completely able to travel to Iraq but never say you are a US Citizen once you get there!!!. If you really value your own life, don't play the tourist role who's traveling to one country that is in the middle of a civil war. By doing so, your life is at risk and probably you'll get a hell load of stress and fear if you dare to walk by in the streets. You'd have known long ago that Americans are not welcome to Iraq.

I'd like to go.

Can't though. Takes too much money. Husband is military....don't have enough!

I'd find all the good stuff they are doing and bring it back.

If you're near a military installation - and get a job at a PX - you might have a chance to actually to go Iraq and work in the PX there.

There are a lot of US citizens who are over there doing contract work. The pay is high because it is dangerous but they hire about anyone. Truck drivers and cooks are in great demand. check out Halliburten but you'll have to hurry. They are the governments largest contractor and they moving operation to the middle east so they don't have to pay taxes here. Smart people, huh?

Only if you are there as a contractor or military. While it is a combat zone civilians should not be allowed to travel to the country. To much of a liability

First off. Why in the world would one want too? There are many contractors that are not in the military that are working there. I hear there are not many sight seeing tours there at this time of year

US citizens have a right to travel anywhere in the world, but why would they want to go to iraq? unless they dont care or arent afraid of death (or getting hurt).

They do. They're called contractors and they are building bridges, water supplies, electric plants, sewers, etc. Also journalists. Why would you want to go there? To help?

And US citizens cannot legally go anywhere in the world they choose. Cuba was one example. Also, the other countries must let you in, it's not your right.

Yes, but they should also be immune from friendly fire murders by USA trained military.

Even if they are Iraqi Americans, they should not be murdered by USA trained troops or mercenaries (contractors).
