In Internet lingo it's someone who goes around and posts to discussion groups and other places just to stir up trouble. They are said to be "trolling" for trouble... as one would troll for fish.

Troll: To fish for by trailing a baited line from behind a slowly moving boat. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Troll

This symbolizes what online trolls do- they just go move through the posts looking for some way to irritate, annoy, anger or generally disrupt the discussion.

The term used in this context comes from the old usenet days. You may have to google the term usenet for more historical background. Essentially, a troll was a person who would trigger a flame war by dropping in statements without either sticking around to participate in the discussion, or by sticking around to poke fun at those who fell for "the bait."

Basically they are searching for someone that will listen to their religious spew. Trolling is a method of fishing where you cast your line from a boat, drag it along in the water, and wait for something to bite or snag on the hook. There is always some zealot pant-load trying to impose their fiction upon anyone who will give them an audience. Don't bite!
