Whenever I get my braces bands and stuff adjusted every month my mouth hurts really really bad for atleast a week and I can't hardly touch my teeth together or eat anything soft, not even ice cream, it hurts too bad... Anything I could do to even lessen the pain just a little bit???

What I did before to lessen the pain was to eat ice cream, i would just sink my teeth in the ice cream so my teeth and gums would get a little numb and the pain would temporarily go away.

But since ice cream doesn't work for you maybe you can try drinking cold beverages instead and just let your teeth feel the coldness. if this still doesn't work ask your orthodontist if he/she can give you pain relievers..

GUM!! I know most orthodontists warn against chewing gum but a few of them actually tell you to chew it. It has to be efferdent which is for people with dentures so it wont stick to the braces. I had braces and after every time I went to the orthodontist I would first take a tylenol and then chew efferdent gum constantly for the rest of the day and the next day. It really hurts bad but by the end of the 2nd day all the soreness has been worked out and all you will need is the wax for the areas that work a sore spot in your mouth. Hang in there!

for the chewing thing, i recommend buying some orajel (which numbs your mouth) and put it on so you can at least have some ice cream. you need to eat, not starve yourself. and take some advil as directed on the box to help lessen the pain. it really works. here is a website for anything you might want to know about braces.

BEST OF LUCK!!! :-)

i used to suck on ice and it seemed to numb the mouth a little bit. but other then that there really isn't much to do. it's going to hurt and hurt more each time, because their are pulling the teeth together.

Its all in the game dude. That happens to everyone. Id suggest not doing anything like using painkillers unless the pain is really unbarable. But after the braces are taken and you look totally different, you'll be glad you suffered all that pain coz you'll look hawt!!!

Take ibuprofen or naproxen. Ask your orthodontist what strength you can take as I let my son take an amount equal to a prescription dose if he wants to.

tylenol, ibuprofen.

If that doesn't help ask your orthodontist for a prescription for a pain med.
