I selected page setup to change the size and the margins, but the text does not print or show on the screen. Word prompt me to fix the margins, if I do, then the text moves to the right side of the document, like if the document was a letter size, if I do not fix the margins, then the text does not print or show in the preview. HELP!

I'm not trying to create a 17 by 11 document to print on a letter size. I want to print on 17 by 11. But, when previewing my document if I choose to fix the margins (because word ask me to fix) the PREVIEW window shows the text on the right side of the screen as if the document was set up as letter size, I did go to page setup and change everything, but still, I can not display or print on a 17 by 11 paper.

I think what you may have done is create a custom paper size that it doesn't know what to do with.

Try this...Select:
File
Page Setup
Under the Paper tab, select 11 x 17 from the drop down list(not the custom format)*
Under the Margins tab, select Landscape

*If you don't have 11 x 17 on the list then do set up a custom format but make sure the width is set to 11 and the length is set to 17 (many printers can print 11 x 17 but they don't print 17 x 11) - by choosing landscape in the margins it fools the printer by flipping the data on the page around for you.

Make sense?

You need a printer that can print on 17x11 paper and you need to set the paper size to 17x11. You can't set margins to 17 & 11 and expect to see anything on a piece of 8½x11 paper.

Change the paper size first, then set the margins to 1" all the way around.

I hope you've got a BIG printer!

pass to 'report' pick 'web page set up' and you will see the margins. the widely used margins are many times a million.0 or .9. In view pick 'print format' and you will see precisely how that's going to print.

in microsoft word
go to file
page set up
click the paper tab on the top
it says "Paper Size:" with a drop box underneath it... if you click that there are multiple options that you can choose from and 11" x 17" is one of them

11x17 won't be accomplished by fixing margins on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

You need to go back into page setup, "paper" tab and set your page size.

Try double clicking the rule on the left of the document.

Please go to File and click on it.

Now go to Page setup and click on it.

Now the Page Setup Panel will open up and you can do your setting there.

Please remember to click on Apply and OK, before you exit the Page Setup.

All the best.

Cheers!
