You should practice the split just off ice. You really need to strengthen you legs to get the legs higher. Off ice jump up and top a few times to warm up. Then pause for a second on the landing before jumping. Then work on the split jump. Try the jump that they do in cheerleading, those split jumps. Not too long you should see much improvement in yours.

Try starting your leg elevation slightly earlier in the process. using the momentum from the lift off will help you get more air time.
Focus on leading the jump with that left leg as if doing a leap, rather than a jump up and them split. Similar to a falling leaf or split falling leaf jump. If you have not mastered those or at least attempted them, get a really good skater to show you those. Some skaters skip things because they want to improve faster, but even the little elements build into bigger things!!
Good luck!

it fairly is extra approximately your coaching and elevation than your splits. in case you heat up and attempt to do the splits as some distance down as you may pass and additionally attempt kicks too then attempt your chop up jumps. A run p ought to help at first yet its all approximately your coaching anf elevation.

Practice elevating your front leg (toes pointed), while balancing on the other. Extend you leg in front of you and hold the entire leg steady parrallel to you waist. From thigh to waist there should be a perfect right angle. After you have practiced long enough to maintain apropriate balance and your leg does not shake, move it up and down is short controlled movements from that position (up and down at about 2 inches). Always stop firmly, at you highest point, center, and low point. Do this slowly.

Practice lifting your front leg on the floor with your other leg on the ground- it helped me get mine higher. Also doing the splits can help you. Practicing the split jump on the floor can also help a lot.
