I am a gay man.

My husband is in prison. We write back and forth. It's one of the best ways to communicate, especially when he is interrupted and have to hang up for head count.
Because of the fact he is in prison, I am on various emailing groups for people who have loved ones in prison. Some people on these lists will provide name and addresses of their loved one who would like to have a pen-pal. I have a few pen-pals in various facilities around the US.

I have been writing to inmates for years. I'm engaged to a Texas inmate so obviously I write to him. I also write to 3 other short term inmates and 2 inmates that are on death row. I have to say that it has been nothing but positive experiences so far. I've learned so much from corresponding with them. And not about crimes either, about humanity.
