Heaven could be The sky, outer space, The throne of God possibly beyond the Orion Nebula. Before the 4th day of creation, this galaxy didn't even exist. Hell could be hades/Sheol (the grave), Gehenna (a junkyard) or Earth (tar taros). It will be cast into fire along with death and lost souls and be annihilated. If you're on the road to eternal life, you're considered a citizen of heaven already. If you're on the road to eternal death, then you'll be annihilated so you don't cause anymore misery to yourself and others.

Star Trek never went past our own galaxy. That is a very teensy amount of space.

Heaven and Hell are on a 'spiritual plane', not a physical one. According to Scripture, they are nothing like anything seen in this world...although God's word paints a picture of what they look like, such as sulfur and fire for the visualization of Hell. Good question, though.
