Have they tried asking for a male?

My husband is one of the urinalysis people in his unit - there aren't any females however - but they would not be 'watched' by the males.

Oh - and by the way if they are actually in the hospital and being watched by a nurse - that may be completely different than in a unit urinalysis situation. The nurse isn't going to care cause she's seen a million.

I spoke with a VA nurse - (yes I called) and they said if he is uncomfortable with a female watching - that he needs to refuse until a male can watch. Even if it is the staff podiatrist - tell them it doesn't matter what kind of medical MALE professional that watches - but that he wants a male.

Did you give a sample? if so then dispite your efforts to complain you complied and not even at gun point. Next time you go and a female Nurse is watching over your shoulder, just say you can't go. Or just refuse. If you are being watched when you pee it's because you are being drug tested. All other tests should not be observed for the sake of privacy.
Anytime you ask for a male and or female stand-by they need to afford you one. Ask to see the Administrator or Head Medical Officer and you'll have a male stand-by in sec's.
Now if you fit the profile of a drug taken homosexual it might be hard to argue you point. Clean-up your act first prior to your next appointment and see what happened.

Ask them if they'd prefer to hold the cup or the penis.

I get my health care at the VA and haven't run into this yet. When I do, I'll refuse to give the sample and contact my congressman immediately.

If it has to be done, it has to be done! I have gone to the VA for 20 + years and no one has ever asked me to pee in a bottle in front of a female

I myself would rather have a female watch me then a male. You got a job to do and they have a job to do, get in and get out

Threaten sexual harassment. You don't think a woman would hesitate to use that to her favor?

ive always just "missed" and "accidentaly" peed on whoever was watching...thats usually enough to stop them...if enough people did this...they would stop...
