Heh,
Nice one, going right after the "our forefathers were Christians" crowd.
Paul actually used Hebrew theology to create structure around the early Christian church. I believe he did this in order to help keep control of the burgeoning religion in an attempt to save the Jews from Roman destruction. The Jews were considered unruly and consistently caused trouble for Rome. Any introduction of a new belief system into Judaism caused riots and trouble as we can see in the Jesus story.
Considering Paul's early abhorrence of Christians, it is easy to see why he would stage an encounter, in order to convince the Christians to move away from Jerusalem and include non Jews into the fold. His teachings caused great controversy between with Peter who originally believed that it was for the Jews only.
I believe Paul did this in a failed attempt to save the Jews

Forget whatever Thomas Jefferson said, listen to Apostle Peter who was very close to Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:15
And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you.
2 Peter 3:16
As also in all his (Paul's) epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
2 Peter 3:17
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
Apostle Peter warned us about people saying Apostle Paul corrupted the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Forget Thomas Jefferson and all the other who are against Apostle Paul and listen to the Apostle Peter who knew Jesus Christ very well.

Thomas Jefferson replaced right into a discovered guy who studied the bible and known that paul replaced into heavily mentally unwell. He lived at a time whilst he observed the tip of the tyranny of the xtian church and the beginning up of the age of enlightenment. He wrote the Jefferson Bible by removing paul from the scriptures, entirely, got rid of revelations (calling it the 'ravings of a madman'), and took out all the impossibilities of the gospels and left in basic terms the message.

Oh wow, Thomas Jefferson will add a great deal of weight to the argument. He is the big heavy weight. He was the big googazuga.
Paul was chosen by Jesus.
You know, the road to Damascus.
Would Jesus choose someone to corrupt His doctrines?
The proposal doesn't hold water.

Thomas Jefferson was a pretty right guy. A very thought provoking author. I kicked Paul's interpretation of anything to the curb long ago. I am completely sure that he meant well, however. Over it.
Ross, Jesus and Paul never met. I think John got the spirit of Jesus teachings better than any of those other fishermen. Paul was at heart, a bit of a policeman, and a blockhead.

Thomas Jefferson was a very well read scholar of a President. He had studied all the major religions. His opinion does carry weight. A point to ponder. He appears to be correct in saying so. But there are millions who have no study and conviction like Jefferson had. If possible, kindly quote the references to Jefferson's study , via email to me. Thanks.

Yet strangely Jesus himself said this about Paul:
Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Apparently, either Jesus or Jefferson (assuming he really said that) didn't know what he was talking about.
Paul bashing is nothing new, Peter wrote about it nearly 2,000 years ago:
2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Did Thomas Jefferson believe that?
I didn't know that....
Anyway....
I believe Paul and Peter twisted things around in order to gain followers.
I believe in the teachings of Christ
I believe he was the son of God and was sacrificed and resurrected...
I don't believe in alot of what the apostles said...
Example...speaking in tongues and stuff like that.
I think they used the word of the Lord for their advantage and personal gain.

St Paul was God`s great converts, God`s great loyal apostle and saints, God`s great warrior (better than the original apostles)... i.e...after knowing Christ and God.
Have you read enough Christ/God`s true life story, doings and plans to say statements like this?
Good luck and Be blessed!
