Nothing he can do, other than color it. You mean his hair was naturally black, and turned brown, don't you? I was born blond, then my hair changed to dark brown for many years. Then for some strange reason, it started going lighter. Within about 2 weeks my hair color changed from dark brown to very light blond. Never used any sort of dyes on my hair, and it's still blond. Maybe your nephew will end up blond too ! Glad you posted this, because I'd never heard of anyone else who this had happened to. Even my doc didn't have an answer for it

Help in what way? Hair can change color naturally. Unless your Nephew wants to dye it, let it be.

This happens to a lot of people as the age. I dont think there is any reason to be concerned, but like the previous answers... you can always dye

the sun lightens your hair or maybe he put some chemicals in it or chlorine from the pool?? and if that's not the problem then see a doctor
