Lights: Is there a type of light that I can wrap around my bed post for when I'm studying?

You could try using a rope light. They come in all sizes and colours and you can buy them from almost any hardware store.

Rope lights are basically a long, thin, flexible tube with LED's in them. They are primarily decorative, and come in many colours. They generally aren't very bright, though.

What you're likely looking for is called a "snake light". They're available all over the place, under many different brand names. Try somewhere like Home Depot (or your local equivalent) and ask for them in the lighting or hardware sections. Although they're usually not the most attractive light fixture, they are definitely one of the more functional ones.

if you are looking for something classier than a snake light, most small desk lamps come in a clip on variety for head boards and square bed post. a brushed silver finish is a bit more attractive than a snake light.

Yes there are. They have all kinds just for that purpose. Try Menard's,Home depot,Wal-mart, and Target. That's just to name a few.
