ok so i agree with you on all of the pros well pretty much all of them..... what if it was a small community with little problems would uniforms be a good idea. and let my remind you that studies show that uniforms dont help with academic achivement. and what about weekends kids would still want designer labels??? right.. that would cost alot plus the uniform....

The con is the fact that your personality is subsumed by the uniforms. No trace of individuality is allowed

Now that is a nice way to ask for opinions. Tell me the Cons.
I cant I can only tell you the pros.
With everyone dressing the same there is less chance for the gang members to show thier colors.
Girls school uniforms are sexy
with uniforms students seem to spend more time studying rather than primping.

As a child, I had to wear a uniform to school and it was great. Instead of focusing on expensive clothes and shoes, we competed on being neat and clean. I don't know if that made us focus on school work more than it would if we wore fancy clothes. On the down side, wearing a uniform sometimes subjected us to harassment from kids who went to other rival schools because we were easy to identify by our uniforms. Nowadays, with the advent of street gangs in some parts of the US, uniforms might endanger students because gangs identify themselves with certain colors and if you happen to be wearing the wrong color, you could be in trouble.

It wasn't all that bad. I wore a uniform for 16 years! The first were wool and they were itchy and hot in the spring and we had to where little clip on bows that couldn't be cleaned but got a lot of lunch on them.
In high school, we had a navy blue jumper but a variety of pastel colored shirts and white and matching knee socks. I liked the variety but some spoiled it with goofy socks and we had to go to navy. The down side to this, at least in high school, was that you need lots of blouses and socks to where so you didn't have to wash constantly. More than once I had to go to the hamper on a Friday and smell a blouse to make sure it was OK to wear.

It simply begins with the uniforms. It's a plot to make all students into mindless drones.
Think about it. The more they make the stundents all behave the same, the less diversity you see. With uniforms, everyone pretty much looks like a drone. When you accept that as the norm, it's all over.
They fear individuality. The want to control the students and seduce them into a state of submission to conformity, and then slowly shape them how the school itself sees fit, robbing the students of their free will practically.
Hell, my best friend got in trouble in high school once for speaking his mind on a matter that asked his personal opinion. He gave it, it wasn't the same as everyone else's, and he had to suffer for it. Heaven forbid you see a free thinker in a school anymore.

You'll probably hate me for saying this but school uniforms are actually good for the students in general....Imagine If u didnt have a school uniform each day u would be faced with the challenge of picking good while at the same time new clothes that you haven't worn b4....Lot of time saved.....And also it makes everyone in the school equal and nobody is superior bcoz of their clothes but only bcoz of their intelligence....so in alot of ways it makes sense to have one..........

If the abilitiy to express ones self creatively is stifled by a uniform and therefore what clothing one wears is no longer important, hopefully, the student will express themselves creatively in their academics, art, music. I believe it would eliminate many barriers between students and be a financial blessing to parents.

for sure YES..."individuality" arguments are bogus...u are still an idividual...if thats what it takes to get kids focused at school then so be it....u can wheer whatever u want at night and weekends...uniforms greatly diminshes the status of "rich"kids who can afford nice clothes but it also greatly diminishes distractions....besides...who doesn't like a hott woman in uniform...

i honestly wish we had uniforms in my high school because if we did then i would have been able to get up put the same thing on everyday and go to school. my parents wouldnt need to worry about buying lots of big money brand name clothes and i wouldnt have had to worry about wearing them and being cool. no matter what high school you go to there are always going to be cliques but if everyone goes to school wearing the same thing it wouldnt be so bad. so in other words i think they are a great thing

One of the cons is that school uniforms stifle freedom of expression.
