Acrobat is a cross-platform format, which means you can read it on Macs, Unix, etc. in addition to Windows.

PDF = Portable Document Format

Anyone on any operating system can view your file. If you create the document in Word, the person to whom the document is sent must have MS-Word to open it.

PDF format can have digital rights assigned in which a person must have permission to read the document along with other security features.

it is more prevalent. Anyone in any platform can read your doc. Microsoft is a new entrant to this field. Acceptance is not there yet. Give it a few years and MS may become the standard. But not right now. I will stick with Adobe.

When you have a form created in Acrobat, I believe its harder for someone to make changes to the form or whatever you decided to type... Thats my thought...
