is there any way to hook your computer to your tv and by pass the moniter?

If your video card is capable, yes.

Otherwise you'd need a special adapter that would plug into your monitor port & re-route the signal to a TV.

There are many flat screen tvs that can also take computer inputs, so you can have one screen for both. I saw some on the site below.

Yes, as long as your tv has the rgb input connection. It is found on most high quality HDTV's.
