why are the shells of chicken eggs a different colour in the uk to the u.s?

its really weird how the uk's eggs are a pinky peach colour and american ones i see on tv are white. is it to do with what they feed the hens?

i dunno,that is a good question tho.we also have brown eggs,like a tan. my mom in law has a farm and they eat their chickens eggs,and they are always all different colors from white to pinkish to brown......they never buy eggs at the grocer,just their fresh ones.

It has to do with the kind of hens that are laying the eggs. In the US, we get our eggs from either White leghorns (white eggs) or Black sex-links or Rhodie Island reds (brown eggs). So goes the New England saying... Brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh.
Araucanian chickens might be the ones whose eggs you eat there. It has nothing to do with the type of food they eat.

i am not quite sure, but i think it has to do with the type of hens laying the eggs. in US, we have white and brown eggs. we also have free-roaming eggs (where the hens arent locked up, they roam free and lay eggs where they choose). most free roaming eggs i've bought are brown and delicious, but i dont know why they taste different. i have also noticed the yolk in brown eggs is thicker than that of white eggs

they're from diverse chickens. the color of the earlobe, in case you want, shows the color of the egg. One fowl received't produce eggs of both shades. there is honestly no distinction in style, yet human beings have a tendency to bypass for brown eggs.
