I want to be married in a church but does a priest or minister have to do this or can i have a marriage commisioner? also i have to get a marriage license first before the wedding right??? sorry i don't knwo much about planning a wedding never been to one. I live in alberta so canadian answers would be good

I don't know how things go in Canada.You need to check with the church you intend to rent. And also the marriage commissioner's office. Usually you have to use the clergy of that church.

Here officials can marry only in their jurisdiction, judges, jps, mayors, etc. Only ministers can cross county & state lines. Here in Ohio, not only do you need to be ordained as a minister, you must be licensed by the State, as well.

I think that is up to the church. But a marriage commissioner can legally marry you anywhere within the state of their authority.
