Hey, i got my lip pierced about 3 months ago and am required to remove it while working. I tried at the 1 month mark to remove it for a while but after 45 mins a layer of skin grew over which i had to painfully break. I did not try removing it again.
Well i left it and was unsure if it was healing properly since i have a fair amount of white skin around the hole, but i was informed apparently that is pretty normal and it still leaks fluid a little. I'm still using the original bar they gave me btw (was too lazy to go get the smaller one since i got it as a spur of the moment thing while in a different city on a night out).
Anyway onto the actual problem, i tried removing it today and after an hour and a half i tried putting it back in again, but it had healed over again and this time it hurt more and bled when i broke the skin this time. I don't see any signs of infection so i am unsure what the cause is. Perhaps i'm just not made to be pierced? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry i just wanted to add i usually heal very quickly fomr injuries etc, And it healed to this point very quickly (2 weeks or so) and has just stayed at this point for 10 weeks now. Still get small amounts of discharge, doesn't hurt if i play with it etc. I might try going down the retainer root and see if that will appease my work but would still like to be able to take it out occasionally. Also can be a little painful putting back in after being out for 5-10 mins although not nearly as painful as half having to repierce it.

Everyone heals at a different rate and usually by now there would be no fluid (though if you try hard enough, you can spit water through the hole). I have a feeling that when you tore the skin open to get it back in it set healing back a little, but as long as you take care of it, keep it clean and baby it for a while, you shouldn't have a problem.
I strongly suggest that you get some high quality quartz retainers so that there is always something in the piercing. Its not good to keep tearing the piercing open and you're causing a lot of scar tissue to form. Its not that you aren't meant for the piercings, its that you aren't caring for it properly, no offense meant
Get some retainers or consider taking out the piercing.

Oral piercings close up very quickly. It's not unusual for a person to have it a year and be unable to take the jewelry out for even an hour.
You will end up with a lot of scar tissue if you keep doing what you're doing. You should never force jewelry into a piercing like that. It damages the surrounding tissue and will lead to all sorts of problems.
Healing works like this: Initial healing usually takes between 4-6 weeks. That's when it doesn't hurt anymore and you can change jewelry easily. Oral piercings tend to complete initial healing quickly. Full healing (where the fistula is complete) takes upwards of a year. When a piercing is at this point, the hole will not close (it will shrink though, to the point of being almost non-existant). Lymph (the yellowish-white discharge) will be present untill full healing is complete (and can occur after if the piercing gets irritated)
If you want to keep the piercing, you will need to get a retainer for when you wish to hide it. You will also need to baby the piercing (you've just started the healing process from the begining) to avoid a build up of scar tissue. You would have been better to leave it out and have it repierced properly. Start proper aftercare for a fresh piercing again, and don't change the jewelry or take it out for at least 6 weeks. If you absolutely need to wear a retainer before then, then you will have to get a good quality quartz retainer (acrylic is not appropriate for initial healing). It is much better if you don't have to switch jewelry for at least 6 weeks. Plastic retainers are fine after that point for short term wear (a day or two).
Initial healing will most likely take longer this time, because when you put the dull stud through the skin, you caused a lot of trauma to the tissue. Be paitient, baby the piercing and you should be fine.

Everyone heals at a different rate.
By allowing it to heal at the one month mark, you started the process all over again, so now your lip has to reheal itself. Any time you take it out before it's completely healed, which can take up to two times longer than suggested, depending on you personally, your body starts the healing process all over again.
Get a clear retainer, instead of trying to leave it open. Mouth piercings generally heal extremely fast, but the placement and how much the jewelry moves when you talk also affects the healing process, which is perhaps why it heals so quickly when the ring is out.

You need to buy a retainer for the peircing. Taking it out can make it close up, and everyone heals differently. To be sake, I would suggest using a quartz retainer, they harbor less bacteria, and most places of employment are OK with the retainers instead of the metal jewelry, as they are not noticable, or at the most, barely noticable. in simple terms get a lip piercing on the area. no longer each woman is going to love that even if, so once you're gonna get it get it reason you want it, no longer because you want individuals to. i'd say in simple terms start up with lip, then even as that heals in case you want it get your tongue executed. i be conscious of fairly some promptly adult adult males with their tongue pierced, and that i do not see something incorrect with it. yet for sure, their are gonna be fairly some those who hate it and allow you to be conscious of now to not get it. in the top, it in simple terms comes right down to you. Get what you want to get and do not get something because its what some different person needs you to get.

Hey, I got my lip pierced also (technically, snakebites) but for school I have to either take it out or leave school. but anyway, I reasoned with them and they allowed me to keep a ring in it.
Well, not exactly a ring. It's called a retainer. It's clear and primarily unnoticeable. you can get them a little cheaper than a steel barbell, ring, etc.
I got mine from http://www.tribalectic.com and its cheap.
Retainers are meant to keep the piercing open while being unnoticeable and such and prevent scabbing over.
You should get to prevent the next scab.

stop taking it out,
you have to leave it till it healls, and cos you keep taking your distrupting it,
when you go to work instead of taking it out, put a plaster over it, it may looks a bit silly, but you want it to heal, and then the people at work cant say nothing, just say you cut your self and dont want infection to get in to the cut

No one is made to be pierced, your body is trying to heal it's self, that is what it does. People pierce themselves for fashion or beleif.......but it's not natural to the body.
