Socrates was convicted and accepted his punishment, even offering a counter-proposal, since he could not bear the thought of having to spend the rest of his days away from his beloved Athens.
If Socrates was actually innocent, but wrongly convicted, we shall never know.

Socrates was wrongly acquited? I thought he was wrongly covicted. In any event two wrongs, don't make a right.
