it will huh?

Laminated wood is made from thin flat layers (lamina or plies) than are glued together under pressure to make a multi-layered board.

The chemistry is mostly in the action of the glue in its polymerization and its interaction with the wood fibers on each face of the individual laminae.

in technology, the process of building up successive layers of a substance, such as wood or textiles, and bonding them with resin to form a finished product. Laminated board, for example, consists of thin layers of wood bonded together; similarly, laminated fabric consists of two or more layers of cloth joined together with an adhesive.

Lamination to Wood-
Wood substrates include both inexpensive natural solid woods as well as a number of composite products manufactured using recycled wood or wood by-products. Common composites include MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), luan, plywood and particle board.

All wood and wood-based substrates are available in various levels of quality defined as “grades.” One aspect of a product’s grade is its surface smoothness which can vary considerably, making some grades better for laminate fabrication than others.

Particle board – which also encompasses chip board and flake board – features a rougher, more irregular surface than MDF but is still suitable for use with thicker gauge laminates that can mask surface imperfections.

Plywood and luan are “layered” wood products. They are produced by assembling three or more thin layers of wood (plywood) or wood by-product (luan). The layers – or veneers – are cross-layered and joined together by an adhesive.

Solid Woods-
Laminates to consider for use with solid wood are Paper Laminates, Flat Laminates, 3D Laminates and surf(x)® 3D Laminates. Applications with solid wood include furniture, cabinets, doors, displays, fixtures, shelving, profiles and trim, and paneling.

MDF-
Laminates to consider for use with MDF are Paper Laminates, Flat Laminates, 3D Laminates and surf(x) 3D Laminates. Applications with MDF include furniture, cabinets, doors, displays, fixtures, shelving, profiles and trim, and paneling.

Luan / Plywood-
Laminates to consider for use with luan and plywood are Paper Laminates (depending on grade) and Flat Laminates. Applications with luan and plywood include furniture, cabinets, shelving and paneling.

Particle Board-
Laminates to consider for use with particle board are Paper Laminates (depending on grade) and Flat Laminates. Applications with particle board include furniture, cabinets, shelving and paneling..
