if you are using semi or demi permanent, then switch to permanent. if you are using permanent, then your formula is too strong, and it's blasting the cuticle making it easier for pigment molecules to fade out.

Maybe you didn't let the color process for as long as it's supposed to. You also might have washed your hair in the same day that you dyed it, or the day after, which you shouldn't do. To let the color set in, you need to go without washing your hair for at least two or three days. You might have picked a demi-permanent color or one that washes out right when you wash your hair. If this keeps happening, you should probably get it done professionally.

You probably wash it too much or apply it to clean hair OR you're using a cheap dye, or washing it too soon after applying for the first time or you use an oil & Glycerine based laminate or harsh shampoo?

Lots of things contribute to a color fading too fast.

A lot of it can have to do with the color and texture of your natural hair. if you have very fine or very course or lighter hair you may need what is called a filler, sold in most beauty supply stores. It will prep your hair for color and allow the color to stay longer.
