Upon what qualities of answers do you OUT THERE vote?

I find it extremely difficult to choose, because very often there is a personal uniqueness to what answers are given.
At such times, I read the answers time and time over, and finally choose by gut-feeling.
What, if you would offer, would be your personal method for voting?

if it answers the question, and if the answer shows some level of effort from the answerer...you know, like those maths questions where people really put in effort to type out the workings and explanations...
