I am not exactly an expert on the subject but I will try to help. There are basically two different tracks for the priesthood. The first is a local parish priest. The second is to join an order. There are many orders, I am not sure exactly how many. Each order has a slightly different focus and slightly different rules. The Jesuits are missionaries and teachers. Benedictines are teachers and take a vow of poverty. There are also Franciscans, Vincensians, Passionists, Augustinians etc. etc.

A Priest is the same almost anywhere, even in Judism.
A Priest is someone who knows ALL the rituals and how to conduct them. They are an expert at services of the Temple.
Now priests can be other things too, like Theologians, but these are people with Masters and Doctorates in Theology not just Seminary school.

Many Catholics are Christians, and Catholics have priests. However, in general, Chistians attend many denominations, few of which have priests. Equivalent examples are pastors, ministers, etc.
