*caution* Just because you make something, it doesn't always mean that it will be cheaper.

Your best bet is to start searching for things you love. If you look at the price to buy it and say "that's ridiculous!" chances are that you will find some way to make a close reproduction at a much lesser cost.

Be smart about where you buy your supplies, check ebay for lots of supplies and check some of the online craft stores. It's going to take a lot of research and time to pull this off at a discount, but it can be done. Everyone's first response is to go silk with the flowers. Yes, it can save you some money if you get the silks at a good price. Otherwise, it may cost you the same. I pulled my wedding off for $1,800 and made a lot of the things myself, but purchased the things that would be very time consuming. Time will be your biggest enemy, be sure to allow yourself plenty.

I've listed sources for some of the most informational places I found when I was doing mine. Congrats & Good Luck!

I just went to a wedding recently. Their favors were magnets. They bought business cards at Walmart for a few dollers. On the computer they scanned a pic of themselves and put their names and wedding date on them. Glued them to magnet of same size and I want to say it is my favorite favor ever. You can save alot of money on a wedding by not hiring a photographer. Some one with a good digital camera can take the photos and they come out just as well and save tons of money. Do you know anyone that does cake decorating? If not check out Walmart. Their wedding cakes are beautiful, inexpensive and actually are good enough to eat LOL. As far as flowers keep it simple. Have your maid of honor or bridesmaids carry just a single rose. I think it looks elegant more so then a big poofy bouquet. Have you got your dress yet? Davids Bridal has great dresses with their $99 sale. Also as far as boutineers go..walmart, michaels, craftmania. Keep it simple. I did something cute again at another wedding. The bride made all of her bridesmaids and maid of honor flip flops. They loved them!!! YOu could do all of the food yourself although that is alot of work but it does save so much $. Congrats on your big day. Gooogle search some ideas you will get tons I am sure.

Are you thinking for favors or for what gifts for the attendants, or for flower arrangements??? Possible suggestions:
Favors: mints in tins, you can get these tins either at hobby lobby or michaels, and you can get something to put in them, (mints, nuts, gum, or whatever) you could also do flower arrangements for center pieces. Depending on what time of day the wedding and the reception is... you could do candle arrangements- if you go that route you could do floating candles, or just regular candles in vases, if you do this use a little mirror underneath so the light reflects and bounce.... trust me is beautiful for an evening event.
I have alot of other ideas so if you would like to talk one on one you can im me at godsoldier74@yahoo.com
I am not going to say my ideas are perfect/or the best but I am getting married this july and I would love to bounce some of my ideas off on somebody. Or help you. No pressure.
Think about it, and if not it is all good you can also email me at the same email: godsoldier74@yahoo.com

If possible go to Michael's( a craft store), to get ideas and then go to the dollar tree where everything is a dollar and get materials for your craft.the dollar tree also has nice things for a wedding for only a $1.that's the route that I am going elegant, but inexpensive, not cheap! Good luck!!!

For the tables
-Buy some jelly beans the same as your weddign colours and place a hand full in wine glasses on each table

Favors
-make chocolates and wrap in foil and than wrap them up in a lace cloth with the date and your names

Invitations
-Buy some nice paper and print out your own invitations, get a nice picture of you and the groom and put on the front be as creative as you would like

Congrats
