There are scents you can use to discourage your kitten from going places you'd prefer her not to. Pet stores carry a product called "Piss (ooo ... a name that Yahoo! doesn't seem to allow on line. It means "urination" and starts with a "P". There's also an "i" and two "s" -) Off", more for repelling urination in areas. One of the other contributors suggested playing with your kitten, and I'm sure you do, but you really have to wear 'em out. I do kitty daycare for this incredibly adorable kitten who also likes to jump up on stuff she shouldn't. I just scoop her up in my arms, lay her on her back and kiss the top of her head until she yowls to get away. You'd be surprized how well that works. They are just too cute to do anything else with.

P.S. That was a lot of work to tell you a legitimate product name. Holy cow! Talk about censorship.

Welcome to the world of new Cat Owner! They climb on everything from Christmas Trees ,curtains ,couches,Table Tops, and they love to dig in Plants!!They will climb or jump on the refrigerator to get a loaf of bread.I have had all kinds of purebred cats Russian Blue,Siamese and on and on and none of them behaved any better! They dug in potted plants and preferred to urinate in the plants and dig rather than the litter Box.Hopefully someone can give you some suggestions but I am an avid "Animal Lover" and I have had horrible experiences with Cats!!!I believe there is a Bitter Apple Sent that you can get now at Pets Mart or somewhere to keep them away but gosh who wants to spray "everything in their home up with that stuff!!Anyway good Luck you are going to need it.!!!!

Try citrus smells like lemon. Either spray it around or keep a bowl of lemons/limes in a clear bowl which can double as a decoration. If that doesn't work, welcome to the fresh flower & plant-free world of cat ownership.

my father trained our cats not to jump or climb on things by putting diluted vinagar in a water pistol and spraying cat when it did something he didn't want it to . It worked !
