As I write this, a woman is getting domestically abused for the first time in a relationship, the man in anger hits her or says something vicious. After showing this side of himself, he will apologize, maybe even cry and say, "I promise it won't happen again." He makes excuses: he had a bad day at work, etc. What percentage of women believe these crocodile tears and give them another chance. I think at least 95% of women stay.

I personally would be outta the realationship right then. But yes, there are alot of women who stay. Sadly, their self confidence is so low that they feel they deserve it or can't do better in choosing a mate. I know somoene like that and it's not just the hitting. He's locked her outta the house naked before etc. I try to reason with her, she just doesnt' beleive she can make it on her own. I think the best we can do is try to get these women into counseling and hopefully turn their way of thinking around. Support them when they need the help and thank God we have better self esteem. I am glad that all the answers on here at least so far KNOW they are better than to have to stay in that situation!

My opinion, he will repeat the abuse and then apologize with the crocodile tears and beg for forgiveness, but the woman should run to the nearest divorce lawyer and get this guy out of her life. If she stays, she will have a miserable life and will be physically abused till she loses her self esteem and is helpless and unable to make a decision to leave. Men like this should be castrated.

NO WAY!! any man that hits a woman once will keep hitting her again and again, every time crying and saying he won't do it any more, begging for forgiveness. Any woman who believes this is out of her mind. In anwser to your second question i believe it is about 65% of women. 31% reported getting abused(1in every 3 women), but its the women who don't report it make it such a large #.

There is never a reason for a guy or girl to abuse someone by hitting them. Get out of this situation as soon as possible. The signs are there, so use common sense and get out while you can.

it will ONLY get worse. if he does it once that means he has it in his body to do it again, no matter how much he says he won't. my boyfriend constantly tells me that he would never touch a hand to a lady that way, and i believe it but if the moment comes where he mistreats me, i'm out of there. that girl should know she is worth more than getting abused.

Get out while you still can.

There is absolutely no reason for physical violence and once a hitter always a hitter. Take it from someone who has been there and done that.

I can't believe anyone would stay. It's sad that they don't have enough confidence to leave...and it's only going to get worse.
