That's always been my arguement. They can come for a better life, but not at the expense of OUR better lives.

I'm not sure why we would/should send our poor to Canada and then move more from Mexico to the states. We have taken some of our poor off welfare and provide no medical care whatsoever to them. Yet, illegals can cross the border and get medicaid. I did medical billing and asked about something and was told the person was an illegal, but that we were providing medical care to them, and, if they had a baby while they were here, we would also cover the baby and the mom would continue to get medical care. It's nice to want to take care of the world, and everyone in it, but I think we need to think of our own citizens first. You wouldn't let your own child starve while you were feeding someone else's. So, yes, there needs to be a limit.

As has been said before....many came here to work at seasonal jobs but they left. They didn't bring the kids along and it wasn't a drain on our services and schools etc. They were usually very quiet and I never remember any of the crime or this "attitude" that is present now. There HAS to be limits because we don't have the means to care for all these people or employ them and still maintain a lawful society. Especially with the total disruption of not learning the language or obeying other laws. As with everything.....it was possible to sort of ignore for awhile.....but the sheer number and blatent abuse has made it a crisis.

I think that's the whole premis of the immigration situation. We have provisions on allowing immigration of a certain number of people but the illegals are overwhelming the system and creating chaos. The Mexican Government is blaming a lot of this on the American appitite for illegal drugs, and that may be true in part, but a lot of it has to do with business who hire illegals so they don't have to pay living wages and so they don't have to make matching tax payments. These two issues have to be addressed.

I think that is true of any place, but what if you were the one trying to survive and needed a place to make a decent living. I think our government needs to change things to accommodate US citizens so we can afford health care and not to live in poverty and quit giving all the money to people that don't want to work. Paying for their health care and not giving a **** about the people actually trying to make a living and not sitting on our ***. If they can't afford to help their own citizens then they shouldn't let more come here.

I think we need to close our borders for at least two years. That means no more immigration, period, until we get control of our borders and identify all the illegal immigrants who are currently in the country. We need to stop the invasion and arm our border patrol with orders to shoot to kill if those caught don't turn around and go back. We also need to get a treaty with Mexico that will place Calderon in the hot seat. If we return every illegal immigrant back to the Mexican Government and have them deal with their treasonous people (And Calderon will refuse to deal with them because he and Fox actually promote illegal entry into the USA and they campaign on US soil and promote and pay for organizations to get rights for Mexican Nationals) maybe continuously reducing the number of Mexicans who will ultimately be allowed to work in the USA as more and more are caught crossing the border, there will be an incentive for him to police the Mexican side of the border. Also, if we tax every dollar going out of the country (and since 27 billion went to Mexico alone last year) at the rate of 50% of every dollar, the substantial decrease in support will become an incentive to stay in Mexico and fix Mexico.
For our security and our sovereignty, we cannot allow any more immigrants into the country for any reason until our borders are secured and until we have a workable method in place to ensure that we know where every immigrant resides, works and that they pay taxes. The USA cannot continue to subsidize lawbreakers!

Anyone can come here. LEGALLY. If someone wants to come here, through the proper channels, I have absolutely no issue with it - regardless of economics or nationality.
But those who break the law to gain entry, and the people who hire illegals, are wrong. If our laws were enforced and obeyed, we wouldn't have a problem.

I was suprised to find out that Mexico is not an open country.
Which I said earlier, sorry guys. It does not allow illegal immigration. People in South America try to sneak into Mexico that has better living conditions than South America.
Higher wages, they actually shoot them.
So I guess we are not so bad after all.

I only think it's ok for legal Mexicans to come here. Yes, there should be limits, there already are limits, and the limits should be enforced.

This country is open and diverse. We take your poor your hungry. All people are worth something in this country. If they work they pay taxes. If the rent they are paying rent. This is the American way. We have room for many more. Any company owner caught not giving the same wage or benefits his company should be sold to the employees.
