I knitted alot a couple of days ago and the next day when I went to school my finger was twitching unconrolably on and off for three days now. Could it be from knitting with it to much?

I don't think it's POSSIBLE to knit too much; but it is likely that you can harm yourself if you do it improperly.

Yes, that's right--there is a 'right' way to knit. You must load your entire hand with yarn to manage the tension instead of wrapping the yarn around your index finger, or you will end up with a condition called 'cronefinger' where your right index finger looks like someone chopped it up and put it back together wrong. Halloween witches usually have fingers like that. I've put a link below to a website with a video that demonstrates the proper way to load the hand for knitting tension.

Knitting, done correctly, provides a nice flow of energy all the way around your wrist, arm, shoulders, down the other arm to the wrist and to the other hand. Make sure you are sitting back in a relaxed position in the chair, comfortable and possibly with your feet up.

That old image of grandma in the rocking chair would be just about right.

Yes. The muscles in your finger were working extra hard, and now since your not knitting, they are over-reacting. It's happened to me before, but mostly mine just hurts when I've stopped. You stop paying attention to how tight your holding onto the needles because you get so intent on your work. If you knitted consistently, your fingers would become accustomed to the routine, and not react that way anymore.

yes. any activity when you are using your fingers for a long period of time can add strain to them. there is a good chance that this may lead to arthritis.
