If Brigham Young was only working with the knowledge he had then and he was wrong, doesn't that make him a false prophet? Why would of God lead him to believe something that wasn't true, if he was truly a prophet ?

I assume you are referring to Brigham Young's talk about the Adam-God theory... you must remember, President Young worked with the information he had then. We know Adam is not God our Heavenly Father, but we also believe that Adam, who was Michael, assisted in the creation of the world, along with Jesus (Jehovah) and God the Father (Elohim). In a way Adam is our father because he was the first "father" of the flesh...Adam also has the potential, as we all do, to become like God.

We don't. Brigham Young might have said something like that, but I don't know that it was ever accepted by the church as official doctrine. We don't even know for sure what B. Young was talking a bout. but he also said, in the self-same talk, that Heavenly Father was Eloheim and Adam was Michael, the arch-angel.

For a great volume of information check out this site.
Walter Martin, supposedly a descendant of Brigham Young,
was a formost Biblical scholar and Christian aplogeticist.
I have read his book "The Kingdom of the Cults" and own a number of his audio teachings.
Much info. on not only Mormons but many other non-Christian cults.

Brigham Young was just one of our Prophets. I believe all that our Prophets say. Just because he made one little mistake, doesn't make him wrong about everything. "We thank thee,Oh God for a Prophet."

If you have read the Book of Mormon (which I strongly recommend that you NOT do -- it is pretentious drivel), you would know that that is not part of the belief package.
