you can prevent one by rememebering the fact that we have weddings is to make a celebration that two will become one and the family and friends become a part of it. some people forget that and make it a one man show

I guess the best way to avoid becoming one is to stay calm and realize the marraige is more important than the wedding day, and no day will be perfect, so something is bound to go wrong at some point, so just relax and find the humor in the situation, because its all about the attitude you take into the planning, how much you will enjoy the experience

As far as handleing a bridezilla, just try and stay out of her way becuase she will crush you if she thinks youve done something wrong! I wish those people luck, they'll need it.

You can prevent it by realizing that while it is your big day other people have feelings and needs on that day and all of the ones leading up to the wedding. Treat everyone decently even if you are ticked off at them.
When my sister-in-law started that Bridezilla stuff(long before the term was used), I told her that she was being a selfish and heartless person and needed to chill out and behave like a lady!

Value your social relationships more than ONE day. Marriage isn't easy, so weddings should try to be. I'm convinced some women only want a marriage for that stupid ceremony. Make it fun. Value the time afterwards more than the time there. My brother and sister-in-law had a great wedding several years ago. I'm sure it had it's stressful moments but overall, they were relaxed that they tried to go small (asides from having it at the Episcopal Cathedral here). It was a lot of fun for them and they seemed very happy.

Realize that the probably will be a little glitch here and there and deal with it. Stay calem. Go over your lists again and again and then whatever happens will happen. Everyone wants perfection but small things are no big deal. Focus on the real meaning of the day. You and your hubby. Smile and all will be well. Remember:

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday, and all is well.

The first answer was dead on to what I was going to say. Don't expect perfection because you'll only be dissapointed when something goes wrong. Remember to have fun and more importantly remember why you're getting married.

The wedding reception is just a party

Just remind yourself that the next day, the only thing that will be different about your relationship will be a couple of fancy rings and emptier checkbooks.

The wedding itself isn't going to improve your relationship. It is just a dramatic public event. The only thing that matters about the whole ceremony is that the two of you will be declaring your love for one another and your intents to remain together.

Everything else about the ceremony is just aesthetic details.

Friends. If you have really good friends, talk to them about your concerns. Ask them to help you put a sock in it if the need arises. Either them or your mother are about the only ones capable of doing it. Your fiancee will be too scared to, and if you do act like that, it may even scare him away.

Being mature enough to get married means that you won't become one! If you are becoming one, that's a huge red flag to everyone!
