She went in heat before we were able to get her fixed. It is my understanding that she has to be out of heat, before we can get her fixed. She is an indoor cat and will not go outside. She does not like milk, thanks anyway. She has an appointment next month at the vet. Just want to know if there was anything now to calm her down, NOT a male cat!

Get the cat fixed if u can't afford it try this it sounds weird I used to have a female cat that was always in heat, a friend of mine is a veterinary assistant and she told me to do this use a Q-tip yes that's what I said a Q-tip and insert. It stops them from being in heat I couldn't do it. yuk but my friend says that's what vets use on them I would just give my cat a bath @ night and she would be to occupied licking her self to make that annoying sound.

Do not give her milk, that will just give her the runs. Get her spayed.

Update: OK, I read your update. I'm glad to hear you're getting her spayed next month. Some vets will do it while they're in heat, but it takes longer (and costs more) because the "parts" are swollen and there's more blood flow to the area.

Now, *I have no idea* if this works or not because I've never had a cat go into heat with me (I managed to get mine spayed before that happened) but I have heard that if you put a broom stick on the floor for the cat, she'll get her jollies off with that and it will calm her down for awhile. One word about that...EWW!

Good luck getting to sleep.

Cat nip is WAY the wrong way to go. Cat nip is just the opposite, it will make your cat hyper and playful. You want to get her tired. I suggest using a laser pointer to get her running around for a good little while, then give her some warm milk or a raw egg about 20 minutes after playing. This will calm her down, make her want to "take a bath" and then fall asleep.

I highly recommend getting her "fixed". Unless you plan on breeding her there is no reason to no have it done. It is better for the cat and will save you on lots of problems around the house (unwanted kittens if she goes outside, less clawing the furniture, wallpaper, and curtains, tiny blood spots on the furniture and carpet). It is not a cruel thing to do to a female cat. The procedure isn't difficult or dangerous, and recovery is pretty fast.

A cat in heat acts like a cat in heat. While it's not much fun for the humans, the cats is motivated by instinct. Calming her with catnip, aroma therapy might help some. Try lavender.

Catnip can cause sexual aggression in cats, so that's not the right thing to do.

As a responsible pet owner you should really get this cat spayed, unless she is in a purebred breeding program. That is the only thing that really works.

There are calming herbs available that might help a little. Try looking at www.DrsFosterSmith.com

oftentimes a neutered male can nevertheless mate with a woman. it is a sturdy issue considering that lady cats will proceed to cycle see you later as there is adequate sunlight hours until eventually they mate. The mating motives ovulation in spite of if the female would not no longer develop into pregnant. this elements a spoil once you'll get the female spayed without as a lot chance.

you can try 12.5mg of benadry twice a day that may or may not work, you can talk to your vet to see if they will spay her while she's in heat.
