Excellent choice. Since your body repairs itself on the rest days, your improvement in lean mass will cause you to burn extra calories on a 24 hour/day basis and you will not burn yourself out. I use 3 intense workouts per week to maintain less than 5% body fat and I am in my 40's. I can assure you that you will not get fatter.
Also, it helps to use a measuring tape instead of a scale to monitor your progress because it is more accurate and will be more encouraging. Besides, clothing sizes are not listed in lbs or kilograms.
Since you are looking for a 4 day/week routine, here is a link to a 4 day per week routine that changes weekly.

Everyday workouts are not the best thing, infact I would say they are worse for you. I work out 6 days a week and commonly, I am extremely tired. Infact, I would say that if you go down to 4x a week, you will have more energy on those days and be able to exercise more. Also, so long as you don't eat an extreme diet, you can burn off all the calories you need just from sleeping, sitting on your couch, driving, and things like that.

You won't gain weight if you're not working out every day. In fact, since you HAVE been working out every day, now would be the time to cut down, because your metabolism should obviously be decently high. Even if you work out four times a week, as long as they are good, vigorous workouts, your body will eventaully reach a point to where you are actually burning some calories even when you're just sitting on a couch watching TV. This is the beauty of metabolism.
I'm assuming, of course, that your workouts consist mainly of aerobic activities. IF you are doing anaerobic workouts, then cutting down will probably cause you to gain weight, yes.... but it will be muscle weight, not fat.

No, you will not gain weight because of this change. In fact, you may find you have more energy since you will now be allowing your body to rest. Everyday workouts are not good for your body... it needs to rest as much as it needs to be worked. 4x a week with intense circuit training will be just fine.

Not sure what your routine is, but I do weight training 3xs a week, and I try to get an hour of cardio in everyday, but I do miss a few days a month. If you find you are losing motivation, maybe you are getting bored with it- switch up your routines maybe

moderate the intensity. do a real hard workout every second day and a light one on the other days. a small bit of exercise addtionally in the morning helps as it raises your metabolic rate for the rest of the day.
you can also try and do other activites in everyday situations, like parking car further away from shops and taking stairs etc. walk as much as possible to keep metabolism ticking over

the more you workout the better, but 4 X's isn't bad as long as your sticking to a healthy meal plan. If you are incorporating weight training, then you may want to rest in between days so your muscles have time to rebuild and recover.

instead of working out fewer days, try working out for shorter periods of time each day. you only have to work out for 30 minutes to get benefit. you are burning calories every day by just living. if you don't exercise, eat accordingly. take in fewer calories if you burn fewer.
